Founded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, offices in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide. It is dedicated to increasing Americas understanding of the world and contributing ideas to U.S. foreign policy.  CFRs 4,300+ members are leaders in international affairs and foreign policy. CFR also publishes Foreign Affairs, the preeminent journal on global issues, and provides up-to-date information about the world and U.S. foreign policy on CFRs award-winning website, www.cfr.org

With more than one-third of its members based outside of New York and Washington, DC, the goal of the National Program & Outreach is to energize foreign policy discussions nationwide. The National Program supports and connects CFR members across the country. Outreach extends CFR resources to leaders in a cross-section of American life, including the academic community; religious leaders; state and local officials; and civic, nonprofit, and community leaders.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

Assisting with logistics of planning and implementing National Program events and the annual National  Conference, including tracking responses and participation, preparing rosters, preparing mailings of meeting and conference materials, researching background materials, drafting thank you notes, and updating meeting records
Assisting with logistics for the National Program Conference Call Series and teleconferences of New York and Washington, DC meetings, including tracking responses and participation, preparing rosters, staffing calls, and drafting thank you notes
Maintaining database of contacts
Providing other general logistical and project support to department and contributing to team dynamic

Requirements
Job Requirements:

Strong related experience, including logistical and administrative experience in program and/or event planning
BA in international relations or related field with high academic achievement and knowledge of current
foreign policy issues
Team player with ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail with an ability to multi-task, demonstrate
flexibility, and meet demanding deadlines with a positive attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong proofreading and editing skills
Strong MS Word, Excel, and database skills
Ability to work flexible hours, as necessary
